I've been googling for a while, but I haven't quite found anything to walk me through solving this just yet.Ĭould someone point me in the right direction? Thanks. There are 3 steps involved for this: Generate an SSH keypair, if you dont have one (can be done with this command: ssh-keygen -t rsa -b 2048 -f my-ssh-key - this will generate 2 files: my-ssh-key and my-ssh-key.pub ). In this case the server administrator needs to log in using an SSH client and, probably as root, manually adjust the permissions and file ownership. In order for you to log in as root with FileZilla (or any other SFTP tool), you need to setup SSH key authentication. If the FTP server and Webserver run under different user accounts, permissions will be all wonky. I can use FileZilla to access the server via SFTP no problem, but when I try to copy files over to /opt/moodle/, all I get is "mkdir /opt/moodle/theme/XXX: permission denied", so I can't create any directories or transfer any files. Re: 550 Permission Denied - cant do anything. Now I want to download some themes and plugins and transfer them to the repository via FileZilla (so that when I update, they won't be overwritten it is explained here, and I *think* that's the way it is supposed to work: ). Server: Ubuntu 11 server (Asus PC) running vsftp Client: Filezilla on MacOS snow leopard desktop. I've setup a moodle git repository in /opt/moodle according to the installation instructions ( ). I can see my server files on the client filezilla, and Download works fine, but I cannot upload files or make directories at all, get 550 permission denied for anything involving writing. So that would require fixing by the server administrator youd have to contact their support. Linux permissions will not remain in lock-step with each other. The latter is a server problem, the server cannot open the file (for writing) on its file system. Permission denied (publickey) when trying. Could be b0rked permissions, or a file still open by another process. I have everything running great, Moodle is setup, there's plenty of documentation to help me along the way, but I recently ran into a problem. The former would mean FileZilla cannot access the file on your machine. 1 1 Could this be caused by the W2019Docker.ovf file being too big to upload What is your FTP max upload size, and how big is the OVF file Jos at 11:37 are you 100 sure that u have write permissions to that folder with that username login with ssh and try to create a file in that folder with touch /home/johan/vbox/test. I just started using Ubuntu Server today to setup a Moodle installation.
